Can anyone shed some light on what the maintenance agreement covers. Is it just like check ups on the bike etc?
Thanks in advance

RE: Maintenance Agreement
Optical,
If you are planning on having the dealer do your scheduled maintenance as prescribed in the owners manuel then is not a bad deal. If you are planning on changing your own oil, lubing your cables etc then it's a waste of money.
I would generally do my own 5000 mile services and let the dealer do the 10,000 mile services. If the 10k is done right it's like riding a new bike, especialy if you do tires at the same time.
DC.

RE: Maintenance Agreement
I agree with DC1450. If you plan on having the dealer do all the maintenance on the bike, the maintenance agreement will save you hundreds of dollars. I too bought a maintenance agreement on a new purchase however, after having my bike in for a couple of upgrades and the 1000 mile service, my bike kept getting returned to me dirty, scratched up, and not completely reassembled. The good news is, I reported the problems to HD customer service and they paid to have a complete service performed at another dealer. I was able to cancel the maintenance agreement with the original dealer and received a refund for the services that had not yet been performed. Before purchasing, I would ask around to find out how satisfied other HD owners are with your dealers service department. Your local HOG members would probably be a good source for this information.

The only way to get value for your money on the maintenance agreement is to ride and ride a lot.
The dealer loses money on me. But he makes it up on all the stuffers out there. I heard that the dealer likes to sell these to people who ride less than 3500 miles a year.

They lose on me also. I already have 2000 miles this year, and I just got the bike out a month ago. The agreement covers oil changes every 2500 miles, and all normal maintence. In this area (Mich.) the service costs will rape ya. the 2000.00 I spent for this agreement last fall, will save me hundreds and maybe thousands over the 3 year period it covers
