Help Save Harley!

I won't be buying any stock until I see a change in direction at the executive level of the company. They've been cheapening their product for years, cheaping out on bearings, or eliminating them altogether, coming out with a new six-speed that was so noisy it drove people crazy and that virtually can't be fixed without replacing the whole thing, coming out with a new compensator that was so poorly designed they had to make their IDS thingy standard on the '08's but you were stuck with buying it yourself if you had an '07, etc., etc., etc.
I wonder if they'd be in as much trouble as they are if they hadn't hurt their reputation so badly with their actions of the last 20 or so years. They lived on the Evo's reputation for reliability for many years, but the quality of their product started decreasing years before the Twin Cam came out with its disastrous cam design.
No, I'd have to see a big change at the motor company before I'd ever invest in their future.

Wow! I guess I should have just put a title like "CHEAP A** STOCK FOR SALE". I was just trying to get everyones attention. Guess it worked! Anyway, at 9 bucks a share, it cant drop too much more unless the whole market crashes. But, what if you bought 10 shares for 90 and then it went to the 52 week high of around 50? After fees you walk away with around 450? As far as supporting the company we all know its the name thats been saving them for years. Dont believe me? Try this scenario- Tell some hot chick that you ride a honda. She might go for a ride. Then think about what she woulld have said if you told her you ride a harley. we all know the answer. Every bike company, car company and any other large scale manufacturer will eventually get so big that some issues are not going to satisfy everyone. Remember thos little questionare they gave you to fill out? Thats why they make changes, trying to satisfy those that send them in. Point here is to buy what you want from a stealership, but you dont have to get mugged by them unless their customer service makes up for it, like working on your shovel. Stocks cheap, Im gonna try to buy some instead of supporting single mothers, HD has always been popular, and maybe just maybe I can make back a little bit of what they've gotten from me over the years. Of course if I rode a honda, maybe I would be looking at their stock.....wonder what price its at?

Disagree on that point. I believe HD has very loyal customers...why else would we spend $450 for a leather jacket just cause it has their name on it even though there are certainly better ones on the market (Fox Creek?). I'm loyal to a certain point; when the cost of buying HD parts and accessories starts to hit me in the wallet when I can buy from other manufacturers. I wish the dealers would reciprocate with customer loyalty...and offer 20% discounts more often. Why should I have to shop at Chicago HD for that type of discount when I'd much rather walk into the local shop and visit with friends and help them out too. The economies tough in my house too, after all.

First, hello to you, hows things in Colorado..been awhile.
I agree with Whiskers about loyality.I would like to add that Harley has done a great job in the promotion of image. What they are doing in getting women interested in riding can not be duplicated from any other company. They support the interest and the sport of riding motorcycles. Are there better products out there, probably. But whose image are the others trying to mirror ??
The dealer I buy from gives 15% for 90 days, but also gives you $500-$750 in free gear when you buy a new bike. I doubt that everyone buys 100% HD.
