Unhappy Can't ride for at least 6 weeks

Man what a bummer, blew out my achilles tendon and having surgery on it Thurs.Be in a cast for three weeks then go back for change position of the foot and another cast for three weeks. Then if it's healed enough another cast but possibly can walk on that one.
It's killing me since it's been in the 80's here since Friday, and expected to stay warm.Life throws one at us sometimes.

Well, you'll be healed up by May (that's when the riding gets good up here).
You'll just be a midwesterner this year

holy crap - thats quite a coincidence; I'm just finishing up my cast series and started re-hab the other day from tearing my achilles. I did it running on the beach in Mexico over the Christmas holidays......hurt like a basta#d....at least I didn't miss any riding though cuz I did it in the middle of winter. Its been 9 weeks and I'm still not walking without support (walking cast) but the prognosis is apparently pretty good. You'll hate the first 2 casts; its a huge pain having your foot pointed down in the cast...my calf kept cramping up. Anyway if you have any questions drop me a line.

I know how you feel. I've torn both my achilles tendons, the most recent being last May. Unfortunately, it takes a good 6-7 months for after surgery for full recovery. Expect to be able to ride at about 8 weeks. The first week - 10 days after the second cast is removed are worse than anything. You won't realize how sore the incision and repair are until you try to put weight on it. Question - is it your right or left achilles? I think that for motorcycle riding the right is somewhat better as you still can use the front brake; with the left shifting will be much harder. My tear in May was my right and it made driving a car much more challenging but I rode w/o too much trouble. As an athlete, I've had many injuries and quite honestly, this is the worst. If there is a upside, your achilles will be much stronger after it heals. Just be sure to follow Doctor's instructions and don't try and do too much too quickly - I know people that tore it again before it was fully healed.

Too entertain myself while I was laid up, I had all my friends come over and wash their bikes in my driveway. At least you'll get too look at the motorcycles.

Brother I feel for ya . .........But I got one better . ..........On or about the 4th of Feb. , I slipped on the ice in my driveway . tore my left rotator cup , and took a disk outta my neck . I'm gonna be off my bike for 3 to 6 months . I don't wanna be laid up like this . But I have to , just to get healed . This sucks so much . I'm hopeing that I'll be on 2 wheels in time for my vacation season . That starts at the end of June . ....................So , good luck to ya , raise some hell , and send some back my way bro !
