dyna frame
I hope this is in the right forum. I am gathering a parts list for a bike build and want to build off of a 2006 dyna frame or one that is comparable in quality and function. Does anyone know of any frame builders that reproduce stock HD frames? I've had no luck finding any 2006 used frames on the net. Must be too early I guess. Any suggestions or advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

RE: dyna frame
I'm going to add to my inquiry to get a bump and hopefully some responses. In my early forties now, I find myself without two wheels for the first time since I was a very young child. I've ridden all manner of motorcycles from dirt to street. I rode a 1200 XLH for 6 years before trading for a 2000 FXST which I sold in late 04 after a costly divorce. I'm slowly getting back on my feet financially and cannot deny my need for two wheels any longer. I've read about the new Dyna's and have went to several dealers to check them out. In my opinion, the new Dyna will be the perfect blend of the XL's performance and the softail's comfort for me.
For years, I've wanted to build my own bike. Now, I think, is the perfect situation and time for me to do so. I know what I want to build excluding exact engine specifications. I just need the right frame now to start. A few years ago, I found on the net a frame builder that made stock HD replacement frames but I cannot find the site now or remember the name.
Again, any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

I know JP Cycles has frames - hardtail, softail, etc but don't recall what specific applications. I've ordered and returned some stuff to them, and they've been pretty good - they're on the web.
Good luck with your project. And don't forget to post pics when you get it all together.

Thanks for your replys. No, I haven't contacted HD about getting a frame from them yet. I was hoping to find one cheaper but I've had no luck finding any reproductions or used 06's searching the net. But I've been reading a whole lot about the FXR's. They might make a perfect substitute for the bike I want to build. I know they handle well as my dad had one in the early 90's. I guess I've got some more studying to do. Thanks

Why not just buy a 2006 and start from there? You'll have something to ride and can customize it along the way to boot. Sorry to hear about the nasty divorce, I've seen a few that the guy usually gets hosed on. Small downpayment for a new or slightly used 2004 or 2005 and you'll be on your way. It doesn't have to be new if you're going to tear it apart anyway.

Try looking here, maybe you can find a totaled one with a desent frame. WreckedHarleys.com. I just tried it and it said it was being redesigned, try it again in a couple of days.

I don't think so - so long as you get an MSO you should be Ok to get a regular title.
The wrecked bike site is a good idea if you have the capabilty to deal w/ a bent frame, or worse. If not, spend the money - last thing you want is to go through all the time and $$ to find out the thing doesn't track straight once its together.
