Default Black Vance and Hines Touch Up?

I seem to be plagued with leaving scratches on my brand new ’09 Street Bob….. I just pulled the detachable rack out with the bag attached to start packing for an overnight stay tomorrow and when I passed by the bike I hit the black Vance and Hines Big Radius pipes with the rack leaving small, but noticeable scratches on the pipes.

Has anyone successfully touched up black Vance and Hines pipes? What exactly was used? Is it a big no no to try putting touch up paint on pipes? Is there something out there that can be used?

I know that the scratches won’t be as noticeable as time goes by, but man, it sure sucks to look at my beautiful bike and see those scratches screaming at me.

I appreciate suggestions. I tried to search, but found nothing.

I've used BBQ paint on my black pipes, and they work fine.

high temp. paint as shy1 suggested, but from my experience you will prolly have to paint the whole heat shield. Touch up prolly wouldn't match up too well. How bad are the scratches? I've heard V&H will sell replacement single heat shields.

If it's close to the struts on a nt try rustoleum satin black. I bought the spray paint and used a q-tip to touch up a scrape on my struts. A pretty close match I think.

Probably not cheap. I just ordered replacements for my bike (because I dropped it). Cost me about $100 each (chrome).

The worst part is they don't look too bad. I'm f'd up like that though and it will bother the hell outta me until they're fixed. lol.

I've got plenty of knicks scratches. I've got a buddy that is ready to drop his bike in front of us just to get it over with. I'll have the video cam ready.

I've painted (experimented) a lot on this nt and agree with frankiefire702. Prolly gonna be the closest to the color and worth a try with the qtip.

These were pretty small little nicks. Hell, I just used some of my black denim touch up. The spots were so tiny, but they show so badly on the black. Hopefully that touch up won’t try to light up on fire – LOL. It looks 10 times better. You have to know it’s there and get really close to see it now.
