Not an expert, but here goes...

I rented a Deluxe and I agree - you sit in the bike instead of on top of it. I enjoyed riding it. However, I found the turning radius left something to be desired - Not the best bike for tight turns. Also, I'm not a fan of conchos and studs.

Recently tested all the new touring models. The RK has the same chassis as the top of the line Ultra Classic. If you get the slightly less expensive standard RK model - you have the same lockable bags as well. You can always add an aftermarket batwing fairing, radio and tour pack later. Plus, you can pull the windshield for that custom look. Based on all this, the RK would be my choice.

Liking my Deluxe with the bags on, too. They haven't been off the bike since I got them.

I think the bags look great on any of these bikes. I haven't ridden the Deluxe, but I have ridden a Heritage and a Road King. If it were me, I'd go King. I prefer the feel of the rubber mounted motor and the handling of the tighter geometry the King utilizes. The Heritage is a very nice bike, though.
