Thanks for the tip. I've always carried a spare battery in my saddlebag just to be safe.

Thanks for the post, the batteries in my fobs are still good at the moment, and my bike is an 02, gonna go get new ones and replace them just in case.

Good idea but if it happens you can do the over ride procedure then drive to get a new battery. I carry the over ride instructions in my wallet.

how hard is it to hold both turn singals in at same time.... then hit (think the right one ) to scrool through your code? then hit left one to set each #?? or just get a back up battery

i bought my 07 in jul of 06, so i am going on close to 3 years now. still on the original battery.

rather than buy a spare and let it sit and die in my saddlebag, i will just use the manual override when my battery dies and then put in a fresh battery. seems like a non issue to me.

Good reminder. I found out the hard way on the way to Daytona a couple of years ago. There was no indication the fob battery was weak or needed replacing. Stopped for breakfast and when I came out to hit the road again, it took forever to disarm the system. The next stop was Savannah and I bought a new battery...grand total of $3.00.

I know what your saying, but I also remember posts on here not long after the button less fobs came out (about a year) about guys getting stranded because of dead fob batteries.

The same solution of carrying a spare battery for them was mentioned then also.

Didn't say to store your fob near the bike, what was said was storing it near the bike would(possibly) save on the bikes battery by not having the alarm on constantly.

I am not sure if the newer alarm systems have the "storage" feature like the pre 07 ones did.

Like I said in the other post, my fob battery is still ticking after 3+ years but

Mine is a little over 2 years old and it still works fine. Maybe, as a previous person claimed, if the fob is stored near the alarm it causes the battery to wear out quicker? And some people are storing the fob with their scooter during periods when they can't ride?

Personally, more important than changing the battery, or carrying a spare, is changing the code for the manual override so you don't end up with a fob but no bike.
