Up until 06 the key fob had a button on that you had to depress to arm and disarm the factory security. In 07 they went to the button less key fob that just has to be n in the vicinity of the bike to disarm the system.

With the 06 a earlier system you also could program the sensitivity, auto arm after so many seconds, storage, and transport features.

The smart siren and pager are just an add on feature to the original factory security system. You still have the same TSSM and they plug into that harness.

If you have the fob it is fairly simple.

Turn ignition on-off-on-off-on, then hit the button on fob twice.

You should then get the current pin number displayed in the odometer window.

Don't waste any time doing this or it will not work(should be done in 2 seconds to work)

The battery in my 06 fob is three years old and still ticking, but it is the button style fob. The button less fobs (07 and newer)burn up the battery a lot quicker because they are constantly "on", and guys have been saying like one year max on them.

only 1 year on the newer fobs..that blows...guess i'm headed out to get a spare battery. It is true they last longer in not stored near the bike?

I really don't see where that would make a difference, since they can't "sense" the bike being near, but just transmit a signal constantly that the bike picks up when the fob gets close enough to the bike. If anything storing the fob near the bike when in your garage would actually save on the bikes battery since it would then disarm the security system.

That is the one thing I like about the button style fob, you actually have more control over the system. If you want it set you set it, if you don't you don't.

Why would you leave the fob near the bike when in the garage? Wow. Dosn't that defeat the purpose of having the dang thing in the first place?

Beat me to it... Fresh battery is a good idea too, but that tear out card with my PIN and manual arm/disarm is with my registration and insurance paperwork.

Reminds me of my wife Her battery died on her car fob one day, she called me crying because she couldn't get in her car I said Try the key honey Then the fight started
