I don't want to get into the habit of taking the bike to the dealer for every service check but
I don't want to spend $500 of the top of the line jack either but at the same time I don't want
to buy the cheapest and have it break after only using it a couple of times. So I'm looking and
found this at Autozone. Anyone know whether this is an adequate jack or not?
If you don't like this one then please reccommend another.
thanks.

Their information about the jack is non-existant. Does it have safety stops? Or is your bike perched up there with nothing holding it except the hydraulic fluid in the canister? If it has safety stops built in where it won't go down even if the pressure is released, then I say it should be fine. If it doesn't, I wouldn't trust it for long periods such as having to leave it on the jack until you can get a tire fixed two days later.

I have that exact same jack! It has worked fine for me the last year and a half. Good jack considering the price, but no J&S. However, the J&S jack is $400
DannyZ71...It does have safety stops. It also has two pegs or bolts that thread towards the ground to keep the wheels from rolling away from your bike. Expect that after a couple uses, you will have to stand on the jack while lowering it to get it all the way down. It's kind of annoying.

http://www.latus-harley-davidson.com/Pro-Lift.htm This one works good for me. The stops are completely different than most jacks. It weights about 90lb so it's heavy if that's problem. Free shipping too.
