Default Opinions on 883 Iron?

Hey gang, just curious on your thoughts of the 883 Iron. My Dad was lookin at it and, since times are tight these days as Im sure everybody is, is thinkin about pickin one up. My question is the differnce in performance levels compared to my Nightster. My dealer told me that to get up and go ts the same, but on the high end you'll fee the lack of power compared to the 1200. So, oh wise ones, what say you?

Greetings,

If that's what he wants...Go for it! But if he's not stuck on a new bike, you can get a used Nightster for not much more than a new Iron, especially after setup and frieght.

Might be just what your Dad needs. On the other hand, there are some killer deals on good used low mileage big twins that might better fit his size, proportions, and if he's going to do any traveling, well a good used EVO bagger comes to mind for just a little more $$. Just a thought.

Ok, whats a good source to look for some used bikes. Because at the dealerships, we see a bunch of used bikes, but the damn things end up costing curiously close to new model prices (with add-ons, etc...). Aside from private owners, whats a good place to look?

Wouldn't know what to tell you as far as experience with it, but I like it. The bike is basically a platform to build on. If you think it needs more power, do the 1200 conversion. You can go either way keep it stock, cause it already looks really good or mod it out. I think it's a good bang for your buck. Just my .02 Cents.

Default Used bikes

Two used dealers I can vouch for if your in the Northeast are 34Motorco in Derby CT www.34motorco.com or Bob's Motorcycles in RI www.bobsmotorcycles.com

Artie at 34 Motorco has a knack of finding some great low mileage bikes. I bought my Road King from him. He has a Nightster on his web site right now.

I think it is a great looking bike. I think it would be a blast around town, or maybe some canyon running.
