From the mayor of Myrtle Beach

They are so biker friednly they have instituted new laws that were made specifically for us, the biker. Kinda gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling. Well, they like us so much they want to fine us for being bikers.
Sorry, but MB, the Mayor and Council can KMA.
Just saying, not arguing.

I have heard that they are interested in having a lowrider and ricer convention instead. I think it is our civic duty to go to every lowrider and ricer site on the web and spread the invitiation to come down for a week. Tell them all that they will not have to worry about bikers and the weather is fine!

Everyone has a right to chose. Those who will boycott, and those who will go just to spite MB, but one thing to remember. The gathering extends beyond the "City of MB", as N MB, Cherry Grove, Little River, to the North, and south to Murrells Inlet, have all said come on down! There will be maps, t-shirts, and everything else to let everyone know how to "avoid" MB City Limits if you so choose. That's what great about the new by-pass they put in which will take you right around it!
We'll probably go, if nothing else to see how many people do decide to fly the salute as we bypass the City of MB!

He says they were the hosts, but not anymore. No arguments in this please. All the new ordinances are outlined. I have posted this for folks that are going down to MB to look at, again no arguments, for information only.

The issue here is bigger than a few people wanting to do away with the rally. If the majority of the area didn't want the rally they could have easily done away with it ligitimately by denying permits and restricting large gatherings. The city limits could not get the rest of area onboard so they have resorted to sneaky tactics like this. It isn't a coincidence that the city of MB registered that domain (myrtlebeachbikerinfo.com) over a year ago instead of just posting it on one of their existing sites.
What bothers me it when they use tactics like this and implement laws with alterior motives than what they are intended for. That sets a precidence for a very slippery slope. So regardless of what your opinion on how to deal with the situation, go or boycott, do not be suckered into taking that letter or web site at face value. The entire site is worded in a way to make you believe the rally's have been cancled. Consider the following information, and then re-read the mayors letter and you will see what I mean.

So if the bike rallies are gone then why do they have all the new BS regulations? If all that new crap they enacted doesn't scream anti-biker, then I don't know what does.
