people telling you a bunch of poo poo...they never had a bad year...this is my 2nd one, the 1st being a 02...never a problem. i do however think the 6th gear on my 08 gets worse gas mileage then when i am in 5th. i also like the 5th gear whine because it lets me know what gear i am in, and since i put syn in all 3 holes, i really dont even hear it anymore

 

Have my 04, only 7500 miles..No complaints.

 

Ride an AMF shovelhead for 1000 miles and then any twin cam for 1000 miles and the chicken**** problems that people bit*h about on these new bikes will never even come to mind.

 

I just traded in a 06 Road King Custom which was 99% trouble free for the three years I rode it. The only trouble I had was once while riding, the starter button turned on (as if I was constantlly pressing it) and I could still get home by keeping the rpm's of the engine equall to the turning output of the starter, sounds alot harder than it was, it just took a good ear which was the harder part seeing that my wifes bike was much louder (healthier) than mine and I just happened to be about a mile from home on road that had little stopping at lights. Now my biggest complaint I ever had was that the dealer was so busy that they couldn't get my bike trailered in and worked on for about 4 weeks, so I fixed it myself ($35 switch) but they wouldn't cover the cost of the switch even though it was on warranty, I felt that I was doing them a favor by fixing it myself and not bothering them because they were so busy at the time. This was the only problem I've had and that bike ran good. I now own a 09 RK and that bike also runs and hadles good also. By the way we had bought another bike for my wife from the dealer I was referring to earlier, so I am not in any way dissatisfied with that dealer, he was just extremely busy at the time.

 

My 05 RK runs just fine and so does my Dad's 04 RK. No problems at all.

 

02 RKC Putting in gear drive and new cams--tensioners shot at 27000 miles. Also there was a TSB on 1999-2001 RK for a fuel injector wire breaking.The factory had the wires to tight. This SHOULD have included the 2002 as my injector wires broke.

 

10k miles, no IDS and no complaints.

 

I was looking for a 02 but ended up with a 00 and haven't had a bit of trouble with it so far. I have spent a ton on extras though.

Going to open the cam cover to check the shoes for wear before the season starts.

 

I have an 02 FLHRI, Had to replace cam bearing's, fuel pick up line, stator, head gaskets, fuel ejector wire, a spring in the top part of the transmission. Most of the problems happen when it got just over 50k to present, right now I'm just over 78k. So we'll see what this year has in store for me.

 

My '02 has been an absolute money pit!
