i expect it will probably be slower than my GSXR600. but i was hoping not by much.

It will be much slower than your Gixxer. Half the horsepower and 150 more pounds.
My 1200 was sooo much slower than the 1998 R6 I had prior. I'd hate to compare an 883 to a newer 600.

i expect they'll probably give me some accesories (i.e. gloves, helmet, possibly a jacket).

At best they might give you a free t-shirt.

MSRP plus 20% because they know they can get it. HD dealers rarely go below MSRP.. around here they advertise that they sell at MSRP as if they are doing you a favor.
There are a lot of nice used bikes out there for that same money. Maybe you could find a slightly used 1200 for that same price.
Have you considered a Buell?
Sportbike ergos with the V Twin engine.
BTW you can not ever compare any sportbike and a HD ( well maybe a VRSC). It is apples and oranges.
Personally I think you'd be better to stay on the Rice bike while you save more money for a HD that is higher up the product line.
You might be able to get in on the bottom of the HD product line, but as is often said what you get is the HD Starter kit. Expect to drop a couple of grand right off the bat for add ons.
