Stopping and Strarting on the up hill...

RE: Stopping and Strarting on the up hill...
The safest way to negotiate hills is Uncle Mike's suggestion, using the rear brake. I've had people tell me the can't hold up the bike with one leg because of the bike's weight. I remind them, it's not about weight, it's about leverage.

RE: Stopping and Strarting on the up hill...
I've never tried the rear brake method, but am going to give it a try.
I had been reading this tread a couple days ago and was amused because I always hate having to stop on a hill. Sure enough two days ago I had to stop my bike on a steep hill at an intersection with a stop sign. I usually use the front brake and catch the friction zone when I release. To add insult to injury a cager pulled up behind me at the stop sign as I was waiting for the oncoming traffic to clear. Just as I let off the front brake and applied throttle....I killed the engine! [:@] I'm thinking the guy behind be is laughing at this biker on a Harley with a dead bike on a hill. I pull in the clutch, restart the engine with my hand on the brake, throttle up release the brake and let out the clutch and thank heaven's the coast is clear-away I go. [sm=escape.gif]
I didn't look back!
