I'd tell them to take them off and keep the bill. If you didn't ask for them why would you pay for them now. You have a bill of sale that specifies what you ordered, if it's not on there you didn't order it and are not liable for them, plus they did a sh*tty job and broke a bolt. Do you really want them anywhere near your bike in the first place?

either pay for them or give them back is what i would do. you said kudos to them for possibly adding something extra to the bike for you. it sounds like they made an honest mistake. and it's not right for you to keep them without paying. you should have done the right thing (went to the dealer) when you realized you had extra parts on the bike you didn't pay for.

The floor boards are standard equipment. It's the adjustable passenger foot pegs that are the installed accessory. Never saw them before, but I like the looks of them! I suspect some wrench just over torqued the bolts when he installed the add on pegs and then the bolt snapped as a result. I'd definitely question who authorized the addition of the pegs in the first place...you should approach calmly, explain what happened, and how do they want to handle this? I'd say the 20% of anything for life is worth the $209, but the fact they did this would leave a bad taste in my mouth! Wouldn't trust them after a stunt like that! Must have figured you'd want to keep them on there after you (passenger) had a chance to use them.

My sons foot board fell off too, do to a broken bolt.

You just can't trust those Chinese bolts and screws.

If you want them I would pay for them. If they cut you a break on the labor all the better. I would just talk with them. They probably know they screwed up. They do look good. Let us know how it turns out.

I'd let them know you didn't order them and one of them has already broken off, and now your worried about having your wife put her feet on them. I like the looks of them, but if your wife will only be using the floorboards then have them remove them.
Did they give you the 20% off for life in writing? I had a bank offer me free checking for life if I opened an account there and two years later told me they are not doing that anymore, so a verbal offer isn't any good when they tell you that "He doesn't work here anymore" bull**** and cancel it.

Well, in this State if its not in writing on the sales contract it's not legal. Therefore you don't owe them for accessories that weren't on the bike when bought. Also, if they don't have a work order with YOUR signature on it to install the accessories, they broke the law and a complaint should/can be filed with the Board of Consumer Affairs. Bottom line is, legally, you don't have to pay for, or, return the accessories. Your call, you can play hard ball or bite the bullet and pay for them.

Do you have that 20% off for life in writing? If not then they will have many more opportunities to cancel that. You can get that same discount online so it is not that great. I would ask them how they expect you to pay for something you did not authorized that broke on you and ruined you wifes $800 Jimmy Choo boot?

I agree about not wanting to ruin the sweet deal you have there but business is business and they will agree. An unauthorized service is either sneaky or on the house. Calmly ask your salesman which of the two it is. I bet they will get things straightened out. If you do just walk in there and pay for it you are opening the flood gates to a relationship of your dealer screwing you for life. Of course they will screw you at 20% off.
