I haven't been to the Dillard House in years, but I understand the food is still as good as ever and yes, if it's within reasonable distance from up there, definitely would be worth making the trip.

And that Shoney's is sad. Won't waste my money there again.
If over near Dillard, GA, word is The Dillard House is great place to eat. Voted in top 10 by Southern Living magazine. We're going to check it out next trip up that was as we pass right through Dillard.
In Robbinsville, there is(might be gone by now) family restuarant in town. We ate there and while passable, cost was too much for the quality of food. Should have known better when the owner of motel(San-Ran Motel) went to Murphy, NC for dinner.
Bryson City, there is a small bbq joint right as you're leaving town heading toward Cherokee that's pretty good.
If you're talking about the place right outside the casino at the light, you are correct. Great food at decent price. Lunch menu is cheaper than dinner.

Just before I went down to the dragon 2 years ago, I caught a Food Channel netwok show on BBQ places. They featured the Sweetwater BBQ in Robbinsville NC. Needless to say, I had to try it, WOW..the food was fantastic. Being just about 6 miles south of the Dragon, its easy to get to, and just about a 1/2 block off 129 Small town feel, and real freindly folks that welcome riders.
From all the reviews I have read, its not to be missed...and I have to agree, its that good.
