As long as it did not have all the **** that facebook has, such as the "request apps" Could be good though.

 

Personally, something that provided good support for planning group rides could likely really take off. Perhaps something that integrates google maps for planning and communicating the route. Also have support for group scheduling, signups, etc. Afterwards have support for posting pictures, providing feedback, etc. Do that well and a byproduct is a database of information on routes and stops along the way.

The challenge is always how to capture the information. Once you have the information there's all kinds of possibilities, but getting the information is the hard part. Simply people being a good samaritan is a hard sell. Wiki managed to do it but it's far easier to do with utility. It's simply worthwhile for you to enter the information for your own use rather than on the off chance someone else might find it useful.

Add in notoriaty and it gets even better. Things like ratings can really incent people to put a lot of effort into it. A lot of people learn from rating systems as well. They emulate the top rated people and produce much better content as a result. All the top rated people include this information so mine needs to include it too.

If it's able to scale from small group rides to large benefit runs then that much better. If it's useful for the lone rider going cross country that much better. Then there's groups like the local HOG chapters. I imagine most have website since they are sponsored by dealerships, but they likely vary a great deal in content and support for their members.

Well, just a thought. Something like a forum would be hard to pull off since you're competing against commercial companies selling advertising. An application that suits a dedicated purpose well has a wide open field though.

The "Maps for Events" is coming....I am working on it, but it will take a little time, like I said before this is a hobby

When finished you will be able to see where the Events are located via Google Maps and you can read the full details about it.

There is also a Chatroom for everyone to use and shoot the @#$%

Signup, take a few minustes and learn the site, new things will be added but the biggest part for now is we need members and promotion for it..

I think it is a great start but the people on this particular thread can and should be inviting other to join. Who knows there may be people close to your location and could all benefit from it plus everything has a starting point. We can't expect to jump in and all of the sudden the place is filled with people.
