Did I do something wrong.

Every relationship is different. Not everyone is the same. Some people are more jealous than other, some more protective, some are very open. It's whatever works in your relationship that matters. If your wife feels protective of her seat take it as a compliment. It means she really enjoys the time on that seat and it is something special and important to her and prefers not to share it. If your relationship is open enough that you can ride anyone on your bike then great. Other may not be and it's really not anyone's place to tell them that there is something wrong with it or you feel sorry for them. That's pretty judgmental and I doubt helps answer the original posters question at all.
Hey Heather - looks like my bike in the background next to yours. I will concur that I do not know the "Backseat" rules on a bike. I can see that it is time spent as a couple. So I do have to absolutely agree that I may come from a point of view I don't understand. So excellent point. THIS happens every year? Good gosh. We should copy the pages and keep them handy. Have a great evening Heather.

For some people it isn't a big deal. For others it is.

The bottom line is: If you love your wife and want to keep her, then respect her feelings and do what she asked of you...and visa versa. Catching a little wood from a chic on the back of your bike isn't worth it.

my wife said she was being silly and knows from experiance (that I can vouch for) it would be way easier to do somthing naughty in the cab of the truck than on the bike.

True, but damn it's cooler on a bike
