Default How to know if SERT is installed?

A friend bought a used bike and it has the stage 1 installed but he's trying to find out if the SERT is installed. The original owner is unavailable to ask. Is there any way to tell bike if it's installed?

Thanks for any help!

Your dealer may be able to tell you. I would take it down there and ask them.

When your friend bought the bike was he given the SERT? Once they are used on a bike they are married to that particular bike. If I had to guess I would say he just had a download if he didn't get the SERT when he bought it.

Are you saying that you want to know if the ECM has been modified for the stage one or are you saying that the bike came with a SERT and you want to know if it has been "married" to the bike?

+1 the SERT is married to a bike. I have a SERT and it is married to the 03 Heritage. Once married it is only good as an E-Bay ripoff if it wasn't given to him when he purchased the bike. If he wasn't given the SERT than I would expect the bike was just flashed or remapped if thats the term you understand. My SERT only works with the bike it is married to but it will read anyone else's bike---I just can't tune anyone else's bike.

If he only has a Stage I a SERT was not necessary.

Not true, if you replaced the intake filter with a high performance one, you need to re-tune.

This brings up a decision I gona have to make in a few weeks. I have a 08 Nightster with a SERT Pro Tuner, I'm going to do the buy back for a Fat Bob. I will get NOTHING for my $525.00 SERT .Do I be a nice guy and give the module with the bike?
My gut tells me no I would love to leave a hidden note to the next owner to call me and I would sell him the module for a couple hundred bucks. So just becouse ya don't get a module with a used bike and they tell ya it's got a SERT it may have one...
