Buncha frikkin' newbies! Only time I've ever seen a BT HD fall off it's stand was when the knucklehaid riding it removed the locking piece that makes it the best designed stand for muttersickles.
Flip it down, lean the bike into it, and get off. It ain't goin' nowhere!
Flip it down on most metrics, and you better be dang sure the bike's attitude is correct, or it's goin' over!

I've got into the habit of intentionally rolling mine forward after putting it down.

I agree with you Deuce, It Is a peice of ****. It would have been so simple to have the stand go past the perpendicular by another 10-15 degress. I sre as hell does not inspire confidence.

i have never had a problem with it, but it could swing out farther. it wouln't take five minutes for harley to correct that on cad and put them on new bike.

Pierre,
The problem with having it swing out further is that the weight of the bike now bears on it at an angle something other than 90 degrees. With one support leg, 90 degrees is the optimum angle for strength. If you go past the 90 degrees you'll have to beef up the major stress points. Kickstands are cludgy enough without adding any more "beef" to 'em. The HD design is simple, locks securely, and won't unlock without lifting the bike to near vertical. Those attributes make it darn near an elegant engineering design.
Notice this thread started with Tony writing, "i have looked at how it works and realize it won't ..." That pretty much sums it up. It won't unlock and dump the bike, so ya just gotsta get past the feeling it will. Work at it!
