I agree with the one post in this thread.
It was more the EVO's doing as opposed to the new/old 883 that saved Harley's butt that time.

I don't think it was the sportster . Back in the mid 70's the jap's were dumping bikes below cost in to are country . Harley went to the goverment and they put a 50 % inport tax on all bikes over 700cc if I remember correctly. This is what saved Harley in my opinion . If I had to pick a bike that saved them it would be the low rider . But I do ride a sportster .
