I thought it was interesting that they gave me a bike quote (two bikes) that was over $1,000 more than I'm currently paying through Progressive. When the guy called I told him he was over double what I was paying and he didn't seem surprised. My membership in aarp has lapsed. So sad!

Don't mean to hijack this thread but I found that list really interesting. Other entries include the AFL-CIO, ACLU, American Bar Association, YMCA, Kansas City Chiefs, Levi Strauss, St. Louis Rams and Sylvester Stalone (staunch conservative).

AARP "endorses" companies that agree to kickback to them part of what you spend. They don't call it "kickbacks", but that's what it is. It's hardly impartial or consumer-focused.

If you look at post number 26, from member Flying Horse, he got the exact opposite from AARP than you did.

Your quote thru AARP was more than going thru the same carrier directly, while AARP was less expensive than going thru the carrier directly in Flying Horses case.

I wonder why AARP quoted you thru Geico, but quoted flying horse thru Formost? Maybe you have bad apples. (and I hope you know I'm just having a little fun here, I have nothing against your apples).

I second what he just said!!! AARP isn't anywhere near a good deal.
