Stopped by Smokey Mountian Harley today here in Tennessee just to see what they had. So I was looking at a 09 street glide and I got curiuos what they would give me for trade-in on my 08 street glide with 3400 miles on it. The salesman told me give me 13000 for mine man these guys are crazy. Then more less told me he could sell mine for 17000 or 18000 talking about trying to bend me over what do you all think?

 

What did you expect? Most any dealer is going to want to make as much as possible on any trade. He probably has a list of guys looking for a 1 year old bike that is just broken in, still under warranty and a few thousand cheaper than a new one.

 

I woulda said thanks, I'll put it in Cycle Trader for 18k then and come back for the 09 when I sell it.

 

Wife was in the car business for a while. She always made a LOT more on used than on new. And I understand cars vs. motorcycles are not the same but wholesale trade vs retail sell is.
Bought my company car- '04 Impala for $4,000.00 (wholesale)-sold it a month later for $7000.00 and I was still under dealer pricing by $1,900.00 so I think they are about right.

That sounds about right...I'd hate to see what my Rocker C would be on trade! That's why I'm kicking around buying a Night Train outright and just have both bikes for a while.

 

I suggest you ride more often...bought my bike in November of 06 and had 7500 PLUS on it by May of 07......:>)

 

What an insult.....In the future, I wouldn't give them the time of day. I hope some of these arrogant salespeople get a kick right in their paycheck. Don't they realize that HOG is in deep hogsh!t?
