Trade-In I got offered today
#11
I asked what they would give me for my 2006 Deluxe back in September and they said 9600 dollars. Which coincidently is what I told the salesman I owed on the bike. He acted like he was doing me a favor. I told him to shove it.

Stopped by Smokey Mountian Harley today here in Tennessee just to see what they had. So I was looking at a 09 street glide and I got curiuos what they would give me for trade-in on my 08 street glide with 3400 miles on it. The salesman told me give me 13000 for mine man these guys are crazy. Then more less told me he could sell mine for 17000 or 18000 talking about trying to bend me over what do you all think?
I'm sorry to say that Blue book for your bike is 13750. I know your bike is worth more to you than that, but not to the dealer. They did low ball you a bit, but blue book is about all you'll get out of a dealer.

Whether it is a motorcycle, car, truck or what ever dealers offer wholesale for trade in's. That has been a fact of life for generations.

The dealer has to keep making a profit to stay in business. After he takes your bike in trade, he may have to take another trade to sell it.
The offer sounds about right to me, but I agree you can get more by selling it yourself.

I would look around. I traded my 05 road King Custom last week and got 12,500 for it. Also got a good deal (for this area) on my new Road Glide We are not in a depressed area and Harley's are selling fine.

They are not trying to rip you off, it just standard business. No one is forcing you to trade in your 08, maybe you should "try" and sell it on your own and see what you can get, Place some ads in the papers or online, deal with the phone calls , deal with the lookie loos want to come and take it for a test ride, etc.
I never could understand why people complain about trade in prices. They are always less than what people feel their vehicle is worth. But it's not worth that much to the dealer. The alternative is to sell it yourself, and now days, that's probably going to take a while.

thats a nice trade deal, according to kelly book they gave you 1500 over trade value but you got to give them credit for not low balling you wright off the bat and you don't have the hassel of selling it yourself in this bad economy+1.
