Most expensive speeding ticket?

Hmm lesse 98 in a 22 wheeler ( tri-axle trailer truck) was 360 bucks in Maine!
379 Peterbuilt EH with a mechanical 425 CAT 13 speed Double overdrive, man would that stroll down the highway. 120,000lbs and I wouldn't get into high gear till I hit 70 MPH!

Al, I think that's insane for a speeding ticket, period. The East Point section of 285 if also a speedtrap. I got one there are few years ago doing 78 in the 55 and paid $193. At $1,000 would have probably been worth taking a lawyer buddy (if you have one) along to see if you would have had better luck getting them to back off that fine. Did they tell you how much it was for each mph over the limit as they usually have a formula for that. Sorry man. That's not a fine; that's rape! The prosecutor should have been at least classy enough to kiss you first.

I don't know about there but here you can call and find out what the fine is before going to court. That allows you to consider your options. I would have hired a lawyer. You are guilty but that wasn't justice.

not on my bike... when I was a young lad growing up in a small town with my 1970 Chevelle SS that I had put every penny I had into... gawd I miss that car...
buddy of mine with a 'cuda decided were were gonna see who was fastest, so we lined em up out past the dairy queen where the road was straight and everyone raced once in a while.
we hit it, somewhere near the end we got lit up from behind... I was ahead of him (yeah I won), so I kept gettin it, and pulled into a side road, turned the lights off and waited for the cop to pass, then I hightailed it home. Phone rings a little bit later, its my buddy calling from the police station, he ratted me out... I had to get my father and drive down to the station... cops reamed us both out for a while, but finally took pity on us 2 kids and wrote the tickets for "speed greater than reasonable" with no mph on it, that was all. I gladly paid it. All my dad asked me when we left the police station was "well, did you win?"...lol... gotta love small towns back in the day.

Yeah, it's funny now...but, at the time...the combination of my youth, bein in Middle-of-Nowhere Southern Jawja, the look on the judge's face, and the tone in his voice...'bout left a brown spot in the back of me jeans. And, all of a sudden, a hunnert 'n twenty-five bucks didn't seem like so much afterall.

I'm sure it scared ya! Those things are always funny now, when these things come up and you look back! Never when it's happening!!(yea, $125? take it! Please!!)

Yeah, reckless driving is the same as DUI. The only differance is what makes you automatically considered to be an excessive danger to your fellow drivers, i.e. excessive speed or alcohol consumption. Likely walking into court against a reckless driving charge withhout a lawyer stamped sucker across your forehead. Particularly if it was reckless by 1 mph. Yeah, right, they are absolutely, positively sure of that last 1 mph when with a motorcycle in traffic they can't even be sure they clocked the right vehicle.

Then that would be just $140 over whatever the base fine was which this would imply was $860 which I've never heard of. Most base fines are like $50 or $90 then so much for each mile over the posted speed limit.

Clocked at 142 in a 70. The attorney fee was $2,500. Fine ended up being $890 with charge for racing being dropped.
They couldn't catch us but they did call ahead and have some of their buddies blocking the road when we got there. Asphalt is really hot on the side of your face when it's been 90 degrees out all day.

I guess I was lucky... I was stopped on the freeway three months ago going 85. I went to court and talked to the DA it ended up costing me $130 with one demerit; the ticket was reduced to 1-9 over 65. The DA told me it would have been $340 and Three Demerits for going 85. This is in Reno, NV.
