Most expensive speeding ticket?

Here, if you go 20MPH over the speed limit, they have the right to cuff you and take you in, costs $800 to get out.
The officer was very nice and let me off that one. It was a stretch of highway with little traffic, it was just he and I at the time. No other traffic for miles. I was doing 100+

Basically the same here. Anything 20+ over the limit is considered reckless and an automatic trip to the pokey. Fine would be determined by the jurisdiction and whether or not they had a "court of record". Fines for the same offense can differ greatly from one jurisdicition to another.

Back in my younger years, a group of us (20 sportbikes) were going down to the AMA's at MidOhio. We all agreed not to speed while eating breakfast at Dennys. About 10 minutes into the trip everyone was speeding. Did not have directions so I was trying to keep up. Had my CBR up to 155mph for at least 25 minutes then the group started beaking off the freeway. I guess we passed 5 state troopers on the other side of the freeway. They pulled 6 of us over from the group. We were the ones that did not see the cops. Well, we all got reckless operation in excess of 100+ mph due to the fact that all 5 state troopers had different readings on radar. Our group of 6 got the same laywer and got the ticket reduced to speeding, costing each about 250. We knew we needed a laywer. Man, 1000 dollar speeding ticket, that hurts.

My last fine for speeding thru Needles Ca a few years ago was a wopping $40./ $40. worth of groceries that is. It was right before Thanksgiving and the courts were doing a food drive for the needy, judge made a deal with me. It didn't go on my record either, I was going 90+ the cop put 80 on the citation. I guess I lucked out. It pays to go in to defend yourself rather than just pay the fine. I just lucked out!

Waaaayyyy back in my construction days...I was headed to a project in south GA, and got stopped just outside of Americus, GA for doin 70 in a 55. The officer said since I was doin more than 10 over, I had to follow him into town to appear in front of the judge. Keep in mind, this was back when a speedin ticket was maybe $25. The judge looked in some li'l manual, and then told me the fine would be $125. I said, "A HUNDRED AND TWENTY-FIVE DOLLARS?!" He just leaned a li'l further over the bench, gave me a stern look, an said, "If yer gonna fly thru Jawja, ya gotta pay the airfare." I promptly handed over the moolah, and got the hell outta town.

In 1977 I out ran 3 cops one night but lived in a small town so they recognized my car and sent me the ticket in the mail. The ticket read reckless driving 135+ mph. I went to court pleaded guilty and again living in a small town the judge and my dad had gone to school together so I was only fined $135. I did sell the car a couple weeks later.
