I too am heading there for the first time - and have heard nothing but good things about this rally. We're doing this in place of MBBW - of which I'm done with!!

Thunder Beach
I have been to Thunder Beach Spring and Fall rallies since the start. Like everyone else said, the people and city are very biker friendly. There are usually many places (on beach front road) to stay, but they usually ask for a minimum three nights on hotel rates. The Most of the venues are along a 10 mile strip of Beach Front Road (beside Frank Brown Park). Make sure you take a side trip down 30A (scenic hyway), many fancy houses and nice scenery (Just west of Panama City off of hyw 98). There is other scenic things to see such as The Outpost, off a side road of Hwy 331 (about 15 miles west of Panama city), better yet look up Outpost on the net for more info. Good luck, watch out for the crazy people.

never been to myrtle beach but thunder beach is
fun, i agree with the others that they seem to like and want the biker business. we always stay at the cheateau on the strip, they provide night security for the bikes and have a designated bike parking area (right up close). map out the back beach roads and you'll get everywhere in 75% less time. lots of good eating, vendors and some good rides..map a ride down 98 to mexico beach, port st joe and apalachicola. nice secluded ride with lots of ocean viewing. you can take 30 south to cape san blas just past port st joe, state park at cape san blas with a great ice cream shack before entering the park,,, also try a shack in mexico beach called "killer seafood" its great. i like the day riding and a lounge chair on the strip at night watching all the crazies fender to fender. lots of good people and lots of people that makes you wonder if they think about what they're doing or not.

I went in 2006 and had a good time. Went to Myrtle four years in a row before that and 2005 was enough for me. We stayed at the Summit on Thomas dr. It is right down the street from Mrs. Newbies which has a good crowd every night.
