So far most respondents go to indys. Now, you'd think Moco and the stealers would wake up.

Don't count on it.

I'll never go inside another Harley Dealership unless I'm stuck on a trip. I'm all stocked up on RUB bikes and I'll never buy another new one.

Do my own work, haven't had to get into anything serious yet, if and when that time comes, it will go to an Indy

I try to do as much wrenching as I can,but for something like tires,or the fork sliders I take it to the local Dealer. There is 1 indy shop near by but the owner is a jerk,so I won't give him any of my money.

If you can find a good indy you trust in your area, that's the way to go imo.

The last indy shop I was in let some drunk friend of their's sit on all of the bikes there and what happened next would **** me off if it was mine, she dropped it, causing damamge to the tank and breaking off a turn signal, they just laughed and blew it off, I know not all indys are like that but the one i was at put a bad taste in my mouth, at least at the Dealer they don't let customers back with the bikes. Just my $0.02

Need to put a third option in the poll. I do all my own work, including warranty and recalls so far. Dealer supplies necessary parts and I do it myself so I don't waste valuable riding time setting around the dealership watching the posers and wannabes.

Well said.

I agree; this is more of a case by case type of decision. Some dealers can be trusted; some independent shops have bad attitudes. Some jobs are better suited for dealers; others for independent shops.

Having said all of that, I did not vote …

If I can't fix it myself then it must need a special tool or jig that I don't own. In that case might as well keep my local dealer in business.
