I wear them when I don't wear my helmet (3/4). If not it takes a few hours (after an all day ride) before I can hear normal again. Guess that it can't be good for my hearing.
Went without them for many years and think I have lost some hearing. Can only hear some of what my wife talking about!

I use custom molded ear protection that I got from an audiologist for shotgun shooting. They're supposed to allow non harmful sounds to be heard while blocking out damaging ones.

Spent 3 plus years on a flight deck on the Bonnie Dick so I can't hear squat anyway Best I can tell the sound of my bike is behind me. Why not just put your Ipod in your ears and not worry about it

I always use ear protection on long runs. Makes for a more pleasant ride, at least for me.
I already had some hearing loss from the military, riding bikes for years without ear plugs and using various machinery over the years without proper protection.
Now, what else did you say???

I started doing just that. Putting my mp3 player on, but my reason wasn't really the sound, I started having air caught in my right ear and it felt like I had water in there. Thought I had an ear infection, but it came down to riding with nothing in the ears.

I was deaf well before my first motorcycle ride. Too much Twisted Sister and AC/DC with the volume turned up. My parents always told me that I'd lose my hearing, but at least now I can't hear them say, "I told you so."
