You can spend a lot or a little, and your mellon will be jsut as safe, as long as you dont get it pinned under a semi. They any of them will not help.

Well, those were pretty much all the brands I was looking at. I couldn't agree more that you can't put a price on these, it's one area I am not trying to go based solely on price. I wonder why it is that the 1/2 helmets fit so much different? We have tried several of them and its amazing how different they fit, I went from a M in one brand to a XL in another. The full face don't seem to have such a difference in size, got a couple of them, and they don't match this ride, but I only wear them on really cold days. Thanks for the advice and help. Safe riding, Scott.

+1... Shoei helmets may be a little more pricey than others, but well worth the money.

+1 on webbikeworld.com for helmet info. When you get through with all of that you will be an expert.

http://jeff.dean.home.att.net/swisher.htm Check this out regarding impact areas during a crash. This helped me decide what type of helmet would be best for me - an Arai full face. They make 3 shapes depending on your head shape. They don't make 1/2 helmets, but they do have 3/4.

FWIW, while I chose to protect my noggin with a helmet, I believe each person should have the right to decide whether or not he wants to wear a helmet

You have Arai and Shoei ,Bell, Simpson on one end of the scale Nolan in the middle and HJC and Kbc on the other end. Look at it this way if you can only afford 50 bucks then get the best 50 dollar helmet that fits the best. If your noggin is worth more than that you can spend 600 and up for a top of the line SHoei. As others have said try em all on different brands fit different and sizing is different. I have a harley half helmet and a full face shoei that cost12 times what the half helmet cost.

Have Seer and Scorpion half hemets, Seer is the favorite but a bit pricey.
