I think the Da Gump has it right. I can't tell the year exactly either without better detail shots, cause there were damn few easy to see changes on bikes that age. But overall I think he has it nailed down about as close as ya can given the material.

Most impressive, Gump. After seeing the stills, we know it's a hand shift. 49-51.

I gotta add that the grin on Dad's face was priceless. It's something we all do and love to do it. Something about a Harley Davidson that brings out the smiles as the worries of the world melt away as we roll the throttle.

Thanks for sharing. This truly made my day!

ok any indian people out ther ??
pic of my dad and mom and his bike probably a 1930 somthing bike
I am 67 and never saw that bike and know dad would not have bought new anybody ID it??

FYI - HD did put hand shifts on up into the 60's, but it was on Police models. One of the guys in the BSMC from Indiana has a 65 Police pan, foot clutch. WHAT a FUN ride !!!!!!!

I didn't know that. I thought all went to foot shift in 52. Learn something new every day!

Very cool video. You're lucky to have that bit of footage of your family, very few were affluent enough to have a Harley and "moving picture" camera equipment.
