im from saskatchewan and have a 05 fat boy originally from the states and i have no problem converting - 50km/h=30mph
70km/h=45mph
80km/p=50mph
also you can just go with the flow. you dont have to be exact. i grew up driving old cars and trucks that were in mph so i dont really have a problem with it.

thanks guys..some ideas for me to look into...was hoping it would be as easy as taking speedo apart and placing a Canadian faceplate as calibration is correct but does not sound like it...

HEY 88 !!! welcome to the board.. I am from Preeceville originally and my parents now live in Yorkton! You'll love the site...lots of great info...and maybe too much..you end up spending money when you see what others have and what ideas they have!

Where did you buy your bike from? Buddy and I sold two bikes through Bill at Yorkton HD this summer that we got in US...great guys...did all our service work there this summer on the 5 bikes we brought back.....top notch dealership in our mind and many of our buddies as well....any pics of the fatboy? Ride with any guys from my old stomping grounds by any chance....cheers man! and oh ya...that is what I have been doing for the last year...but more I do it, the more hassle it is as small towns, cities have diff school zone speeds, comng into town, some are 50-60-70-or 80 and it is just a hassle...keeping this bike so want to make it the way I want it....my luck will see same thing the other guy said...the red and blue will pull me over.....and will probably get a fine for removing the big stickers RIV makes you put on the speedo to make it Canadian inspected....(got rid of those in a hearbeat..but by law supposed to have them)

Buy the speedo-tach combo on ebay, some good deals. Also I BELIEVE a big fat ticket here in CANADA for having only a mph speedo. Correct me if im wrong, another headache.

Here's a few from EBay. I personally have no issues with doing the conversion in my head as my bike reads MPH as well, but each to their own...

I looked in my service manual and it seems to me to be a sealed unit. I don't know if you really want to be cracking it open...

You can open it but you have to unfold the crimp that holds the outer ring on. It isn't easy to get it back right from what I was told and you will always be able to tell it was broken into.
I checked that company and they said they do not do KPH face plates.
