Honda Davidson

They say Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I owned a 01 Honda Shadow ACE for a few years, it was a good bike, low maintenance, easy to ride even looked like a "Harley". (see attached) But still was not a Harley. Now that I own one, the difference is NIGHT AND DAY. I've always wanted a Harley but could never afford one. So I got the closest thing I could afford at the time. I bought the Shadow for $5000.00 used 4 years ago and I bought my 06 Street Glide for 17,000.00. Is it worth the price difference? I don't know yet, time will tell. I love my glide and will probably never go back to Honda. I think Honda is trying to get as close as they can to the Harley market to nab the buyers like me who could never afford one. If I'm not mistaken is that not what Harley is trying to do with Buell? Get into the sport bike market!!!
To tell the truth I would probably still own the Shadow if it had not been for my wifes work who had some good years in the stock market(believe it or not). It allowed me to by a bike for cash paid in full. I chose Harley Davidson.

You are mistaken...Erik Buell was one of the engineers at Harley, broke off and started his own company. For many years it was an independent company from Harley. It's only been recently that Harley bought minority interest in Buell (less than 50%).

Well, Harley copied the V-twin motor from Indian.
Harley copied the Softail style frame. They bought the rights from the guy who invented it.
Is Harley's line of sport bikes (Buell) a copy of the Japanese since HD didn't invent the sport bike?
How about the V-rod? Could that be a copy of a Japanese power cruiser?
The way I look at it, almost every competing product is a copy in some shape or form. HD isn't innocent of this by any means.
