I think they are finding out that the hey day is over, just us regular folks that have been at it awhile are still riding,we need places to carry stuff on long or short rides to the store.Read an article in the Horse awhile back about how the guy writting it said he saw a bunch of "yuppies"on their new Harleys riding everywhere,he didn't see many chops out there doing much traveling -- DUH Sort of a call to arms for the back alley chopsters to get out there and ride I guess.

I watched some of the recent auctions. Seemed like several vehicles didn't bring what they would have the past few years. Of course the past few years I saw several that went way more than I would have thought.
I'd expect most customs to have a big drop in value, how many people with $30k+ to spend are looking for a used bike?

It was either right before or shortly after the CFL bike went through that a fairly simple non numbers matching 73' auto trans Z28 brought $33,000.00
Last year that Z would not have brought that. 73 Z's arent worth that kinda coin. I would go so far as to bet that guy with the CFL bike would not have swapped with the Z28 guy straight across.
The folks at BJ's auctions probably dont show up thinking bikes. The guy nthat let his bike roll through a no-reserve auction on a Wed afternoon in the wintertime was.....Trippin.
I would peg that bike at 20-24K anywhere else. Not that I would want one but that about what it was worth.
Betcha if an Exile or something beefier looking than that bike rolled through it would bring more coin.

I attended the auction in Vegas last weekend ---Harley prices--way down quite a few did not sell----Triumphs way up in price, some of the expensive antiques did not go as well
Mid America has a web site they show the selling prices of cars and bikes at their auctions

these bikes are only "worth" what someone will pay for it. apparently they arent worth squat. hell whoever bought it paid $15,999.98 more than what i would have paid for it.

That's pretty much what I think, too. A modified bike is, well, a modified bike. Ask your dealer how much your bling is worth when you trade. Nada - that's how much.
