Rider's Creed

With apologies to the USMC.

This is my Motorcycle.

There are many like it, but this one is MINE.

My bike is my best friend. It is my life.

I must master it as I must master my life.

My bike without me is restless. Without my bike, I am restless.

I must ride my bike true.

I must ride better than my enemy cager who is trying to kill me.I must
see him and make sure he sees me.

My bike and myself know that what counts in traffic is not the miles we log, the noise our pipes make, nor the sound they emit.

We know it is the near misses that count. We will not be hit...

My bike is human, even as I, because it is my life.

Thus, I will learn it as a brother.

I will learn its’ weaknesses, its’ strengths, its’ parts, its’ accessories, its’ strengths, and its’ limits.

I will ever guard it against the ravages of weather and damage.

I will keep my bike clean and ready, even as I am not so clean and ready.

We will become part of each other. We will...

Before my brother and sister riders I swear this creed.

My bike and myself are the defenders of my freedom.

We are the masters of our destiny.

We are the saviors of my otherwise mundane life.

So be it, until there are no more miles to ride.
