Honda has stated that they will pull out of Formula One as well. It looks like even the deep pockets manufacturers are feeling the pinch.

Yes times are bad. I have lost two customers just this week that have closed and gone out of business. Freightliner in our county just layed off 1200 people building trucks. I have a supplier to NASCAR in Moorseville that cannot pay me $633.00 that they have owed since September. We wrote off just over $42K in bad debt for 2008 which is our worse year yet. I'm trying to maintain and keep my people working but it is not looking good. When the dust settles and the economy is going back in a positive direction how many of my customers will still be around? Will I still be around?

They don't have a clue in Washington and nothing they are doing is restoring consumer confidence and nothing they are doing is spuring investment. Without these two key elements we are in deep do do.

Who did this to us? The we want to tax the rich and give to the poor crowd. The we want to bail out failed companies with the funds earned by the successful companies. That simply does NOT work.

 

I'm hoping and praying this doesn't just keep spiraling downward until we are in a full scale depression. My heart truly goes out to those poor folks that are losing their jobs, houses, and suffering because the greedy want more, and they expect the more smuck in the middle to pay for it! Sad state of affairs....

 

Well said DK. The dealers have been arguing this point for the last 4 or 5 years, Honda doesn't seem to have any interest in bikes anymore. Yamaha has taken a huge chunk of Honda's cruiser market and both Yammie & Suzuki have the sportbike market tied up. Honda let down a lot of customers when they didn't come out with a replacement for the Valkyrie (no, the Rune doesn't count), which was a hugely successful bike and it's been downhill ever since.

 

Damn...the man hasn't even taken office yet, and you are already blaming him for the ills of this country? Seems to me, that your boy BUSH has been in charge for the last 8 years, while our country got flushed down the drain.

It's hitting the Entertainment business too. My Co. would normally be hiring now for all the tours that usually start up after the 1st of the year. Hardly anything going out. I'm lucky in that I'm with a band that's doing really well. Only a few others going out for more than a few weeks. More than a few guys I work with been sitting home for over 2 months now. I was home for 7 weeks but I wanted to be.

 

The Globalization of America, has done this too us. We stopped manufacturing, kept believing Reagan wantabees ( Both Bushes and all the Republican Party) that they would follow in Reagan's footsteps somewhat, but unfortunately George W was as BIG a Liberal as you could get!

BUT the Democrats also looked the other way because now the government was taking care of their voters ( the ones who don't pull their fair share, the newly arrived immigrants) So now they got the whole enchiladas , so you can expect more socialism to becoming.

As far as , rally attending, I have been riding for many years and will use any excuse to go to a different part of the country for a ride. But most riders today want entertainment now, and so is the definition changed of why a rider should plan his life of riding, I think so.

As far as a Giant Honda Hoot cancelling , God works in mysterious ways
