KBES BAGGER, You should have had a boss like I had before I retired, in the spring he would come into the tool room and tell me its nice out, do you want the afternoon off to go rideing?? or in the fall, the same thing better go for a ride today, weather is going to get bad later this week..Course he was a Rider, and he knew I loved to ride.. I didn't get paid to go rideing, well sometimes I did, but that is a whole other story..

Have purposely set up my job and bike for daily riding, weather permitting. If its raining going in then I'll drive but otherwise I'll ride. Just put on a set of hard saddle bags that I can removed in a matter of minutes and also have a windshield but only mount when for long distance. This morning was a perfect situation. Office is about 20 minutes and thru the country side. I would say the temp was in the mid to upper 50's and the sun shinning. Perfecto great to be in the USA!

When I got mine late last year it was always meant to be my "daily driver" unless rain was falling when I opened the garage door. To date that is exactly what its been, reguardless of how cold it was in the morning. Truth be told, I am begining to hate driving a 4 wheeler of any kind. I will ride every moment I get and make excuses to go somewhere if I get bored. My RG handles like a dream at all speeds and I cant imagine riding anything else.

I wonder, though, if some of the pointed responses scared off anyone else that might have had a different opinion since several of the responses resembled more of an off-topic rant than constructive opinion.
I think some of the more pointed responses were more in regards to the implication that a Harley would not be suitable for the task. Like it couldn't handle the mileage. Which, taken the right way, 'could' sound a little like bashing. I'm just trying to figure out why you'd need something more nimble than a Deuce for daily commute??? No flame intended.

Yes, daily transport. Windshield and saddlebags so I have my raingear, heavier gloves, whatever I need. The ice and salt do stop me though. A ride always puts me in a good mood, no damn cellphones or friggin' morning radio show banter!

My Night Train IS my daily driver. The only time I don't ride is in winter. If I need to haul large items, then yes I do use a cage, but for 90% of all my transportation needs, my ride is more than adequate!

Cheers!

When I first got my Fatboy after riding my custom rigged bike for years, the first thing that got my attention after a few miles on the Fatboy was… wow.. this is actually a valid piece of transportation that can be used reliably from point A to point B. Sure it is not a car and got limitations but very doable indeed.

I ride mine to work every day even rain.

Round trip is about 75 miles. If I take the train it's $10 plus a gallon of gas in my truck. If I drive, its 6 gallons of gas ($18), $3 bridge, $25 parking.
Riding is 1.5 ($ 4.50)gallons gas, free bridge (commuter lane), free parking.

Drive = 1.5 hours
Train = 1.25 hours
Ride = 30 min

Choice is clear to me.

Every day transportation for me....DEFINITELY! Too many reasons to list why....but the most obvious is because I love it. My ride ain't no garage queen, that's for sure. Man, what a shame...HAVING to ride 40 miles to work, then HAVING to ride 40 miles back home...somebody kick me...

I commute every day the weather will let me on my Dyna! I get their faster, and use less gas. Work khakis and Harley brand black riding boots that look good enough for "business casual" go just fine with the usual riding gear.

I do have the luxury of living in a fairly small town (12,000 people) and working 7:00 am to 3:30 PM, so traffic is not bad.
