"But perhaps the biggest cost of all was the effect the rallies had upon our quality of life. Residents were no longer willing to give up the month of May."

I can understand that. Sometimes things get out of hand. Enough instances like that over the years would be enough to put off any resident from future rallies.

I just posted this on charlotte.com as well as myrtlebeachonline.com......

I've been vacationing at Myrtle Beach for well over 30 years. Never missed a year that I can remember. Although I ride, I've never had a chance to attend the May rally. I will NEVER spend another dollar in Myrtle Beach again. It's about principle. If they don't want me on my motorcycle, that's fine, but when I pack up the family for a trip to the beach, from now on it will either be to Holden Beach or Charleston.

No big loss there , just move a bit north like north carolina or south to savana maybe. Been twice and other than a couple cool bars would not go there again.

I all ways go to the ground zero ride and have miss that bike week. And now new york has a new law on pipes. After May there is a bike week every other week all summer somewhere. It will only hurt them not us.

I know some bikers will still go, but outside the city limits, but we should boycott the whole damn area. I think after May is over, they may be very surprised how much their revenue is down compared to previous years. Their loss...
