Are you talking heat wrap? "Cool It" by Thermo Tech is what I use. You can find it at NAPA or online. Not bad cost wise. As far as lasting, are you talking about the wrap fraying or splitting or dry rotting. Yes the heat wrap will last. As long as you dont blast it with a pressure washer it wont split or fray. If you are talking about fading then No, they all fade. Some fade quicker than others, the black will fade but if you use the silicone spray it will prolong it. The tan takes the longest to fade. I have the black wrap on my pipes and I like the look of the fade. Gives it that Old School look. Hope this helps
Something to try with exhaust wrap is to cut the strips to length after a loose wrap (adding some for luck). Then glue the ends with super glue or similar. You're not looking for something to survive the heat, just keep it from unraveling while wrapping. I always wrap with the stuff wet, squeezing the water out during the wrap process. I secure each end with safety wire, and put a loop of safety wire in the middle just in case. Allow to dry thoroughly and mask with tape and apply several coats of high temp paint. It will last for years with that process. Less stink after paint also.
Daddy Knuck thats a good idea painting the wrap with high temp paint . Iam thinking of wraping the pipes on my Nightster with black wrap you just made my mind up Thanks!
