Default Power Commander on a 2009 Softail

I probably won't be doing this for a while, but eventually I want to change out my stock pipes for some Vance and Hines. At that time my bike mechanic says he could remap it for me and use a Power Commander, but he is worried that it might be hard to find a spot to install it that will keep it dry in our rainy weather out here.

Do any of you have an Power Commander installed on your late model Softail and if so exactly how did you mount it? Thanks in advance for your advice.

Hmmm, I dont have a have a softail, but as far as I have read if you are just doing an Exhaust you may not need to do a REMAP or a PC, but then again I have an 07 and I just did an Exhaust and it worked out for me, I really dont know about the 09's

EDZ82FXR, The reason I am thinking about a remap is that I've been told by some who have ridden a long time that part of the reason the late model Harley's run so hot is that Harley adjusts them so lean out of the factory, but I know just enough about this to be dangerous.

I have a PCIII on my '06 FXSTS. The mounting position is horrible; just in front of the rear tire on the other side of that cheap plastic fender liner. I didn't get mine mounted high enough and about 4 days after I installed it I it the bike started acting funny. Turns out that I left the driveway a little quick (there's a dip for the streets sewer system) and the swing arm crushed the PCIII doing enough damage to make it useless. I ended up buying another and mounting it as high as possible and have had no problems at all but spped bumps and pot holes make me cringe. Be prepared for a hard installation getting the connector through the bottom of the battery box, it's a major pain in the A$$.

I've got an '07 Train, and had my PCIII installed in the empty holder for the alarm system (didn't want one when I bought the bike.) Snapped in there like it was made for it, and no problem in almost 2 years...
