Insult me, but don't insult my bike!
It was bad enough the dealer insulted me but I draw the line at insulting my bike! I was browsing at my local Harley dealer yesterday and noticed a used Roadking with hard bags. I wanted to visualize them on my 98 so I was looking it over, the owner of the dealership walked over to me and asked if he could help me, I said I was just looking at the hard bags on the roadking and wondered what they would look like on my 98. He said he wouldn't suggest changing to them on an old bike like mine as I would never get my money back on them. I told him I wasn't interested in getting my money back, I may still be riding it for the next 10 years. He then got himself in deeper by saying at my age I may not be able to pull the clutch in 10 years.
Don't get me wrong he is a very nice guy and goes out of his way to help so I guess I'll let him slide. I just think it is funny how people in this country think, we are a very throw away society here and focus on getting new things even if our older ones work great. I really have no intention of trading my bike for a newer one, heck it would cost me 5 or 6 thousand dollars just to get a new one up to the chrome level of mine and I love my bike just the way it is.
The funny thing was he was aking $9200 for the 96 Roadking that had the hard bags and the clearcoat was turning white on the bags. I bet if I wanted to buy it he wouldn't say it was too old to ride.
I really believe my bike and I will be on the road a lot longer than 10 years!!

We do, unfortunately, live in a throw away society. It's sad. You did better than my husband, he would have had some choice words to say to the guy and turned him every which way but loose....but that's just him.
