Cool Why would someone do this?

I have a dealers license and sell Harley's on the side of my other business. Have been emailing w/ guy about a 2008 Roadking Classic I have for sale . Sent him multiple pictures, He liked it as should only has 4k miles on it still under full warranty and settled on 16,500 , which is very fair when Black book says 18,525.00 and ther 09's price is 22,400. I didn't hear back from him after a couple of days , so I emailed him and instead he went out and bought a new 09./ Roadking. Why would someone pay 6,000 more for a 09? Just trying to figure the logic.

Some people can't live without new stuff. I'm not one of them.

My guess would be that the 09' may have had a few more features than your 08'?
Still you offered a good deal.

btw, love your avatar and signature quotes. Big Zep fan here.

I haven't payed attention to the 09's, but I'm not sure exactly what more it would be.

They completely redesigned the touring chassis in the 09's and the way the engine is mounted to the frame (prevents the lateral instability issues in cornering that folks reported on earlier touring models). Supposedly a vast difference in handling as well as increased loading capacity (150lbs or something like that).

Of course, cause no one loads up their Harley's for multiweek cross country trips.

You asked, I informed.

Yep...it does

The additional load capacity is just a side effect for what they did for the chassis as a whole.

Also the new exhaust routing that cuts way down on the heat below the legs, and let us not forget, the wider rear tire...
