I have never bought anything like cars or bikes new. I like letting other people take the depreciation hit. I like being upright on the stuff I own, not upside down. I like walking away from a deal boasting about what I got and for the price I got it for. As in I should know about the 09's, I deal w/ used bikes. I don't have a franchise so, I have really no reason at this point in time to know about the 09's.

I didn't hear back from him after a couple of days , so I emailed him and instead he went out and bought a new 09./ Roadking. Why would someone pay 6,000 more for a 09? Just trying to figure the logic.
Having done both used and new I find that while more expensive with new you can grow old together so to speak. With new, 9 outta 10 chances, its perfect. Used, the ratio of being perfect is a little lower and your taking a bigger chance inheriting some unshared problem.

But in your stated case is was still under warranty, a win win situation, so that was a strange choice. Can't imagine any big differences between the '08 and '09's? '08 has 6 speed,6 gallon and 96" motor. Roadking classic is a very nice bike.

Might just be me, but how others spend their own money (and their reasons) aren't really a concern of mine.

I might not agree with them, but they probably wouldn't agree with many things I do as well.

Just saying..........

Post 09 For Sure

Thats what I did. The 09 features out way the price differences. Take into fact the rear tire setup alone. Granted I am know finding it a pain in the a$$ since none of the previuos years parts will interchange. But I am still happy with my choice. And the Red Hot Sunglo, WoW Sharp!

I like to take 3000 to 4000 miles trips. The changes made to the 2009 touring models set the hook and reeled me in!
+1 We travil on multiple 4 day weekends and then do the 3000 to 4000 road trip in the summer. I know for the 09 An increased load capacity of 5 pounds in each of the saddle bags and the Tour Pak on models so equipped comes courtesy of new support racks for saddle bags, along with Carrying the Twin Cam 96 V-Twin powerplant in the new frame are new vibe-isolating engine mounts. Ditching the tri-mount system on the old chassis, the new system now uses two mounts in front instead of one. “This gives us a lot of control of the powertrain within the frame, helps us reduce sidle shake and is another key element in the tooling of the chassis.

Just and FYI I did pull the above information from a review. Pluse I pull a trailer so the extra waight capacity is a + for me.

I'm confused. I can buy a brand new 09 RKC in vivid black for $17,500 out the door. That includes freight and setup. Add about $500 for two tone color.

That's about $1k off msrp. Some dealers are really dealing.

As said, the 09 has a brand new frame and lots of other changes.

Where are you getting your figures?

Here's the 2009 RKC msrp list from the H-D web site:

Well if the dealer was dealing and added TTL in the MSRP I'd have grabbed the 09 to. Half for features, half because then I KNOW how it was maintained and broken in.

Piece of mind is worth a grand or two when dealing with nearly 20,000 machines.

Most likely because it was brand new and it's easy to walk in to a dealership and get financing with good credit.
