Default Why the 6th gear light?

I know it's would be nice to see when you are in 6th gear at a glance, but why just 6th gear? Why didn't they have a light for all gears, so you could see what gear you are in? Just seems like kind of a waste of a design to show only 1 gear.

So you don't try and put it in 7th.

So every time you see it you realize you've got a great bike.

If I forget what gear I'm in I just stop and start again.

Unlike the ‘old’ five-speed box, unless you pay particular attention to which gear you’re in you’re going to land up in overdrive. And you can’t simply potter around in overdrive as well as you could in the old ‘top’ (fifth) gear as it’s a particularly ‘gutless’ gear to be in and only good for highway cruising.

It's there to impress those who only have 5 speeds so they go out an buy a new bike.

That way, if you are an idiot like me puttin along in 5th at 70 M.P.H. thinking wow this thing runs smooth, you can look down and say "shwit, I ain't even in high gear yet." No, actually the first time I noticed the 6 was lit up, I rolled out of the throttle and said "shwit, what the hell is wrong?" That's when I realized that most of the time I had been riding along in 5th happy as a nappin' ape.

Since I have no tach & with the wind noise, it's kinda handy to know for sure I'm in 6th if I need to kick down to pass or whatever.

When it sounds like you're pulling a rusty tool box behind you on a boat chain, you're in 5th.
