Summer in the South
#61
The worst part of summer in the South is 14 million lost tourists here in Myrtle Beach. "Look Martha, there's where we want to be." (As they turn left across 6 lanes of traffic without looking)

It gets soooooo hot and humid here in the summer time. You would think we would get use to it, but you never do. Been living here all my life and it's still tough. I think back in old times, before air conditioner, one would be somewhat used to it. A/C has spoiled us.
I remember the first year we got our bike, we rode one day in September and it was over 100 degrees and awfully humid. You would think riding and the wind would make it tolerable but it was like riding in an oven. I got so hot my chest started hurting and I really think I almost had a heat stroke. Have not had a day like that since, though it has been really hot and that was in 2002.
But I'd take our hot, humid days any day to your cold snowy days....no offense meant but I'm not a cold weather person.

As a yank from the nothern territory of Wisconsin I can say that two of my favorite things come from the south: Delta Blues and fried catfish. My two very favorite things come from the North: Miller Beer and my Harley.

I don't know anything else in the summer. This Florida boy has lived in the Everglades all his life in a town with population of 1200. Don't like the bugs or the humidity.
Married my high school sweetheart. she is from Indiana, but been here since she was 3, so she talks like me. Yea, I love a few Yankees. Love that swamp cabbage and frog legs also. Don't like hurricanes or tropiical storms either.
