shorter kick stand
I have just lowered my 2008 FXDL by 1" and am in need of a shorter kick stand. Other than shortening my stock stand, does anyone know if there is anything out there available. I have seen kits and weld on units and also shorter ones for Softails but nothing for a Dyna.

You can get a wedge that you put between your kickstand and where it mounts to the bike that makes your stock kickstand a few more degrees out that will do the job. When my bike was first lowered the damn thing would almost fall over to the right when I parked it. After I installed the wedge, I haven't had that problem since. If you can't find one that fits your bike, you might be able to make one or have one made for you. Below is an example of what I'm talking about.

Lowered an FXD, and found a 1" under stock length kickstand from J&P Cycles. It works well, and was easy to change. Part number is 5300345, costs about $80, and their phone number is 1-800-397-4844. They are very helpful, and should be able to get you what you need.

As far as I know, HD puts the same jiffy stand on their lowered models, Street Glide, Deluxe,Se Fat Boy, as the regular ones. This will give a false oil level reading, because you are suppose to read the dipstick while the bike is resting on the jiffy stand.
