NYC to begin seizing loud bikes - EPA stickers soon required
Opened today's NY Daily News to page 4 this morning, and here's what I found.
It states that the bike can be held for a FIRST time offense, if it lacks the required EPA sticker, and a max fine up to $1000. Not only cops, but traffic agents, and other city workers can enforce this law... while you're PARKED!
SECOND offense, and they KEEP IT!
The timing seems to be coinciding with the Safety Enforcement program proposed for nearby Suffolk county on Long Island.

I know when I'm in my truck, some inconsiderate biker always has to pass me and rattle my world thinking he's cool. Now, everybody will eventually have to pay the price for the inconsideration of a few moron bikers.

"Today we go a long way toward taking the squeal out of the hogs," "an extra tool to get at what is truly a serious problem" WTF!! It may be a nuisance to some old lady, but not a serious problem.

I think this is great.
It is wonderful that a city so large has resolved all their major problems, like crime, durgs, corrption, etc., and now has time to deal with the little things.
NY must be a great city/State to live in.

Love loud pipes off my Sporty and RKC. Still have my Sporty for cruising around. Now, I'm going to stick with stock exhaust system on my '09 Ultra and don't want the 5-0 on my back if they're going to crack down on the loud pipes.

Do bikes come from the factory with an EPA sticker applied? (I know they have the basic sticker that says it was built meeting compliance, etc - is this what they're talking about?) Do other vehicles? If NYC wants to pay for my inspection and sticker that's fine. Otherwise do it for all other vehicles also or shove it up your $*$&#

Yet in NY they will let Cabbies & everyone else honk their horn in traffic.
Sure am glad I don't live in NY.
My loud pipes would get me in all kinds of trouble.
Maybe the PO's & what not should focus on gang bangers w/ guns & leave the loud pipes people alone.
When is the last time loud pipes killed anyone?

This is just a taste of what is coming, John Q. is getting tired of being woke up at one in the morning by some idiot with drag pipes blasting through his neighborhood. There is a tree-hugging mood starting, and if motorcycle riders don't understand, laws will be passed to make us understand. The days of anything goes, is going.
