I wear a DOT half that I got at the HD dealership.
Although my state is a choice state, I wear one anyway ...... my choice.
My helmet is comfortable and looks good on me.
But ......... to each his/her own.

I haven't been big on wearing wearing a helmet much the past few years, but next season I think I'm gonna start wearing one more.
I think if yer gonna wear a helmet, wear one that will actually protect you when yer skull hits the pavement. That's what they are for

It's all about how comfortable you are with your risk assessment. A skid lid does not provide any significant protection. Given the varying crash dynamics, there are some collisions that a rider is not going to survive. When it's your time, it's your time.

If you are wearing a helmet for protection, the best protection you are going to get is a high quality full face. Anything less than that, is going to be selected based on your personal cost/benefit analysis.

I'll wear a DOT helmet of one style or another even though my state doesn't require one anymore. I got used to it when it was the law and I feel way more vulnerable if I don't have one, but it's a personal choice. I know I could always wear more protection but I think if someone is too hung up on worrying about crashing maybe you should think about why you're riding anyway.

I wear a novelty half helmet most of time or no helmet when I am in a choice state. Today UPS is delivering a new HJC full face, first full face I have ever owned but the cold is getting to me this year for some reason. I am getting Married in June so I am moving to a DOT helmet, we are thinking of a fly and ride honeymoon in SD not sure what I will do there. I hate helmets not because of the mushroom thing, but because they are f*n uncomfortable to me, but guess I am gonna try out protecting my grape this year.

I've always thought of wearing a skid lid as a courtesy for those that hafta clean you up. Hopefully it'll keep most of your brain in it. Kinda like if I was gonna shoot myself, I'd do it in the shower.

You really only need a helmet, when you plan to have an accident.

My fullface may not have been the reason I survived a crash, but I was glad to lose a chunk of fiberglass from the chinbar, instead of a chunk of my jaw and some teeth.
