Default helmet law

The way they get around it is the state has NO helmet law, therefore the city can pass their own law as "needed"...any city in SC could do that if they really wanted.

100% correct.

My state does not require helmets on scooters below 50cc. My town passed an ordianace requiring them and has been successfully enforcing it.

Nope, the city or county government can not reduce the standards set by the state law but it can have laws that are considered a higher standard.

The laws of the land can be modified by the local gov't if they make the law better for the people voted on by the local congress. That is why so many criminals have their cases heard by the supreme court. It is a last effort to get a different ruling by a court nobody can overturn

obviously organizers need to start looking elsewhere. Why would anyone want to spend their money in a place that wants nothing to do with them.

Been there, done that, definitely no need to do it again. I have to wear a helmet in my state and that is part of the reason I USED to go there. I'll not go back, F' em!

I'm somewhat familiar with what's going on in Myrtle Beach. I vacation
there a couple times each summer and have been for the past 10 years. The mayor of Myrtle Beach was against these new laws at first until the local Blue Hairs started applying the heat. See, these people want to live in a tourist town, but don't want any tourist. They have little in life to look forward to but getting their mail everyday and eating at K&W Cafeteria. As for me, I will continue to visit, but won't spend a dime within the city of Myrtle Beach.

Default Other income sources

I think I broke the code. 500K riders, 20% of whom won't wear a helmet, times $100 fine is $10M. Secondly, ticket the bikers who have loud pipes, probably 30% of the 500K bikers times $100 fine and that's another $15M and guess where all that money goes, not to the vendors who pay a tax to the city, but directly to the city. It's a money maker. The bikers are still going to go to MB, they are still going to eat and stay in motels so the city gets that tax revenue and the fines. So sit back and watch the show. Wait and see.

OBTW, there ar 15 new laws to be broken or excuse me, to be paid when not followed.
