It was raining yesterday, so I stayed home and worked on some personal projects, including the brake job. As I expected after your responses, there was no evidence of loctite on the caliper bolts (and I checked with the original owner to confirm they've never been pulled before), so I changed the pads and reassembled, tightening to torque specs.

It turns out that I should have stayed home today -- several inches of snow this morning (and this is Baton Rouge, Louisiana!).
